With gusts of 100 mph expected in Scotland this afternoon and tomorrow, MORE TH>N insurance is offering customers advice on how to protect their homes during the storm.

MORE TH>N has already increased the number of staff at our call centres as well as increasing the number of loss adjusters in the Scottish region. Call centres will be open all weekend and an emergency hotline number 0800 300 699 has been set up to assist homeowners affected by the storm.

Tips to help protect your home

• Lock away all loose objects around the home such as garden furniture, ornaments and tools.
• Make sure that all windows and doors are properly closed.
• If possible, park your car in the garage.
• Check guttering around the home is secure and if safe to do so, mend any that may be loose.
• Check for any loose roof tiles and any broken fences.
• Speak to neighbours to ensure that they have taken the necessary steps to protect their home and have removed any loose items so that they can’t cause any damage to your home.
• Help the elderly to remove loose objects from the home.
• Always have your home insurance claim number to hand so that if you do need to make a claim, help will be on hand quickly.
• If you are planning to go away, leave your insurance details with your neighbour.
